Why colonize?

After learning what you have about England's monarchy and the kings and queens of Europe during the 1600 and 1700's why do you believe they decided to colonize what became known as the New World in the Americas?

I Belive that the Colonies colonized the "new World" because they werent allowed to do much of anything unless approved by a higher power such a king or queen or second high in power the parliment, the new world was a new way of them becoming a new people people that were free to do thing with out being under such strict power, the didnt want and anarchy but the wanted and had a demoracy!

  2. I believe that greed for money and power led the English monarchy to form colonies in the "New World", or North America. Ironically, this greed was what led to the Revolution and the forming of America.

  3. I believe the reason for England colonizing the New World was for wealth & to further strengthen English rule. Also, greed was even more motivation for them colonize the New World. The "Taxation Without Representation" is what gained England their wealth but eventually led to the revolution & their downfall.

  4. I believe that England's monarchy decided to colonize what became as the "New Worlds" in the America's so that more than one person may have power over a certain amount of people. In each colony a certain person was appointed to rule or take order. Also this will make England wealthy as J.London and {JS} said because each colony takes in a great amount of money.=)

  5. I believe that England's monarchy decided to colonize the New World for wealth and power. Land that was owned was essential to different countries...the more land a country colonized, the more power and the more land they will recieve. Although, many countries lose their land due to the amount of money tax payers have to pay

  6. I believe that the English monarchy decided to colonize in the "New World" because they wanted to expand their empire and gain natural resources. If they expand their empire, they would have control over the land as well as it's resources. this control would give them a competitive edge over other countries because they would have more to trade with and therefore, more money.

  8. I believe England decided to colonize "The new world" because of wanting more power and land over seas, all though still wanting to have control and power of the new land. Colonizing the "new world" in America created more opportunities to resources in trade, along with more land for wider spread of the colonies.

  9. I believe they wanted to start a "New World" so they could recieve more money and power. If more people came to the colonies then the king or Queen would have power over the land.

  10. During this time the Manarchs had everything. They were the King and Queen of the country. Colonizing the new world would only give them more power and make them superier to the other countries. I believe that this is what the king and queen wanted for themselves.

  11. I believe they tried to take over and create a new world, because the kings and queens wanted the money and the power. Truely if we were in their shoes, we couldn't say that they were wrong for believing that having one person in charge/control is wrong.<= That's how they were taught to do or be in their country... The only down fall to me is that they were trying to take over something that was not theirs to own.

  12. I believe that the reason for England colonizing the "New World", was to simply show the people who had the authority in the group. I also believe that it was for the gain of money and power, they demonstrated that a neighboring country could own land across the ocean. They were the first of any country to sail across the sea to an unknown land and take FULL ownership of it. But doing what they wanted without the approval of the colonies shown to be a negative outcome, in which the colonies rebelled and boycotted many products in the land.

  13. I believe that England decided to colonize the "New World" because they felt like if they had more power and more people for them rather than against them it would help them get more things accomplished without any distractions, disagreements, and even rebellion among others.

  14. I believe they got fed up with England's strict rules and regulations. They wanted freedoms that they could not get in England. They came to America and formed their own colonies to try to better their lives.

  16. I believe that the people of England decided to colonize the "New World" because they thought that they would have more freedom in a land that was seperated from the the monarch. They were probably tired of being abused by the monarchs and their taxes and decided that they will be able to make their own rules and rule how they wanted to in the "New World".

  17. I suppose the reason behind their colonizations was because the English people wanted to escape the monarchy's cruelty. They believed that they could be their own people and make thier own rules if they left. When you feel that someone else has more control over your life than you do, you do what you have to.

  18. In my opinion they probably didn't have what they wanted like rights and riches. I'm sure they had had enough and they wanted to find a "New World" and start their lives fresh so that maybe they would have rights and riches.

  19. I think England decided to colonize the "New World" was for economic reasons. The people of the English parliament were hungry for power and money. So to increase their pockets the colonized a new country. They know that the people who were new to this country needed order. So what better way then to pass lots of taxes for everyday supplies that were needed. But this is what led to the people of America rebellion against England and their independence from them.

  20. I think that England decided to colonize the "New World" for economic reasons (the Acts) and for freedom. Because they were charged extra and they could not buy or sell certain things without their king or queen's approval. By colonizing a "New World" there would start out fresh, it would be a "new beginning".

  21. The king wanted them to go over there, because they were purist. He wanted to take over everything, and be greedy. The king and Queen wanted everything for themselves, and that isnt right.

  23. I believe that they colonize the New World because the Americans and the English fought for peace. They came to thier senses and was able to be together after the war. Even though it took alot of lives, it was for good cause. I guest at the end there was hope for the Americans.

  27. I think England wanted complete rule over the colonies because they wanted to have control and to become wealthy by allowing the colonies only to buy goods from them and for excessely taxing the people.

  28. I think that the New World would help because it would give people more freedom. More people would also start to not only have freedom but economy things as well. With England having the New World it would help a lot of people.
